The Fanatic

As a professional waterfowl guide for several years, I always considered geese (especially the Canada Goose) an especially great quarry to pursue. I traveled North America hunting waterfowl in many states and continents. I met Tom Ryan at the Governor's Invitational Hunt in South Dakota where I was showing my artworks. Tom was what you would call a true "Character." Tom was a world hunter, having collected trophies most people only dream of.

I traveled the continent and world with him on many memorable hunts. Although we both collected many great trophies, we shared a special passion for goose hunting.

Goose hunting was our greatest hunting. He was "The Fanatic." From then on in the arts, as a portrait artist, I watched him admiring the great flights of "honkers." We finished an unforgettable hunt as the great "Duke" Luke Roques. I was absolutely overwhelmed with the creative desire to capture this moment! After dinner that night, we sat around the fireplace sharing our favorite moments with a group of great friends we often hunted with. Of course, the drink that night was Tom's favorite "VO" on the ROCKS!
